We’re proud to announce our new partnership with USA Today. Our Video Discovery platform, part of Universal McCann and Interpublic Group, joined with USA Today (flagship publication of Gannett) to distribute its content across the Primis network.

This partnership allows us to add another high-quality content provider to our extensive video content library. USA Today video content is now available via our Video Discovery unit to all our publishing partners.

Our syndication partners provide our publishers with a diverse selection of high-quality video content for use on the Video Discovery unit. USA Today joins the company of our other elite content providers like Reuters, Live Nation, Jukin Media, Jungle Creations, Video Elephant, WatchMojo, and others.

Primis Receives MCM (Multiple Customer Management) Approval From Google

It’s another proud moment for us at Primis, as we received Google’s approval to partner in their new Multiple Customer Management (MCM) program. MCM is a new initiative to ensure traffic reaches an elite standard of quality, and we’re honored to join an exclusive group of companies to achieve this status.  

Over the past few months, we have been working hand-in-hand with the team at Google Ad Manager to bring it to fruition. It was a pleasure to update my colleagues and let them know our hard work had paid off. 

 

MCM is a part of Google’s broader initiative to help clean up the industry by eliminating spam and increasing the amount of high-quality traffic flowing to the advertisers. Primis shares these values and priorities and is thrilled to be among Google’s partners to adopt the standard and bring it to market.

 

In recent years, the ad tech industry has gone through sweeping changes to promote quality, transparency, and privacy. At Primis, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of these movements. We’re happy to be in business with partners such as Google, which plays an outsized role in modernizing the entire ecosystem’s standards and practices.

We were one of the first companies to adopt ads.txt when it was launched in early 2017 and among the earliest adopters of seller.json. Primis Launches Contextual Targeting For Video Advertising

At a time when many advertisers, agencies, and publishers are looking for privacy-friendly alternatives to targeting media audiences, we are proud to announce a new contextual targeting technology for promoting video content discovery and consumption.

Due to this game-changing development regarding our contextual targeting capabilities, brands that advertise on the Primis network have the capability to target their video ads on multiple levels of contextuality. It is now possible to match an ad to the category of the web page or video, the keywords extracted from the web page or the ones used in the accompanying video, or the brand of the video provider itself.

This is a big step forward in enabling our partners to do video better in a world increasingly concerned with user privacy.

How Our Contextual Targeting Works

These contextual capabilities provide advanced targeting for advertisers to reach relevant and highly engaged audiences in a cookie-less world. Within the Primis Network, brands are able to target their ads according to several levels of contextual targeting, including by:

Choose from 30+ categories of pages across the Primis network, including (but not limited to) News, Business, Sports, Lifestyle and Gaming. Many websites cover a variety of topics, so it’s integral that your brand is seen not just on the right sites, but on the right pages on those sites.

Page Keywords

Select keywords to target with your advertisements in order to get the most accurate audiences. Choose any combination of words to target and the Primis Video Discovery unit will scan the pages across all approved websites for placements highly relevant to your goals.

Video Category

Have your video advertisement seen alongside only videos that are of a specific category or set of categories. Be confident that the video content following your ads are of utmost relevance and appeal to the same targeted audience as your brand.

Video Keywords

Play your ads before the most relevant videos by targeting the keywords of the video. Choose any keyword or keyword combination to be sure only the most relevant videos are targeted.

Advertisers Target Video Content Creators

Another useful component to this content-based targeting innovation is enabling advertisers to target content from publishers across the Primis network, not just on their specific domains. For example, an advertiser can now decide to have their ads shown as pre-rolls before Sports Illustrated, Billboard, or USA Today videos, that are played on hundreds of Primis partner domains.

We are excited to announce the launch of Audience Extension, catering to Primis publishers, syndicators and advertisers. With Audience Extension, Primis publishers can spread their surplus demand across the Primis network, enabling additional monetization options for their video content.

Publishers Tapping into New Revenue Streams with Syndication

Creating more monetized video inventory for publishers is paramount to our mission at Primis. For the most part, that is achieved by publishers placing the Primis unit on their articles enabling users to watch more videos through our Video Discovery engine. But Primis also enables publishers to enhance their video distribution in another way, by becoming a content syndicator and offering their video content to the rest of the Primis network of publishers.

Many Primis publishing partners are adopting this strategy, including Townsquare Media, Investing Channel, Horoscope.com, Jungle Creations, and others. The appeal is very clear, especially for Primis publishers, as by simply opting in to the program they enable distribution of their videos to 100’s of millions of users. And all of those views are automatically monetized by the Primis marketplace.

Publishers Leverage Their Own Demand Sources

With Audience Extension, Primis publishers that are also syndication partners can spread their surplus demand across the Primis network exclusively for the audiences that engage with their brand. That means that they can use their own direct demand partners and advertisers to monetize their content anywhere it is being syndicated, not only on their own domains.

Audience Extension moves us closer to the goal of helping publishers do video better, by strengthening their relationship with direct demand partners and brands and offering them more inventory on hundreds of quality domains.

Primis Launches Primis Next – The Next Evolution in Video Discovery

We are thrilled to launch Primis Next, an engagement-based discovery engine that empowers users by automatically skipping content they don’t interact with.

As the pioneers of video discovery, Primis’ mission is to increase revenue for publishers by helping users discover high-quality video content. Following months of rigorous testing, Primis Next advances this mission substantially.

The primary changes that we have implemented:

  • Uninterrupted Video Experience – Users that engage with a video will not have any break or be shown an ad for the full length of that video.
  • Auto Skip – Videos that didn’t lead to engagement will be skipped, to allow users to discover the next video.
  • Focus on Pre-Rolls – To support the uninterrupted video experience, most mid-roll breaks will be replaced with pre-rolls.

We’ve Upgraded Our Playlist Dashboard To Give Publishers More Control

We are excited to announce a series of updates to our playlist features, designed to give publishers greater control over which video content they display.

These updates will allow publishers to play the video of their choosing that their users are most likely to engage with. Every video in the Primis, Video Discovery platform is selected through a combination of contextual algorithms, past performance data, and carefully curated playlists selected by either the publisher or one of our content experts.

Primis Now Offers Out of the Box RTB Capabilities

Video Discovery company Primis has announced an upgrade in their monetization, now giving publishers an Out of the Box RTB tech capability. 

Up until now, publishers could only connect to the SSPs or Exchanges with their own seat, through Primis, via client-side tech solutions, either with a regular VAST tag or header bidding (e.g. Prebid.js).

Primis’ Out of the Box RTB  improves this capability by providing publishers with a full RTB, Server-to-Server integration solution to their own seats at the SSPs. It is supported by a simple select-box UI flow where a publisher chooses their SSPs, integration type (for example, RTB) and inserts its seat Id.

 

As the industry continues to evolve, and video advertising is on the rise, technical capabilities for publishers are becoming more crucial.
