This is the third year in a row that Primis has been awarded recertification of the TAG Certified Against Fraud Seal by the Trustworthy Accountability Group (TAG), an advertising industry initiative to fight criminal activity in the digital advertising supply chain, together with a select group of advertising industry leaders.

ABOUT TAG ACCREDITATION

The accreditation fits in with our belief that the advertising industry should be safe, fair, and provide true value to all parties involved, especially for publishers. We promote this vision in a number of ways:

“Primis has for the third year in a row demonstrated its commitment to providing a strong product and valuing fraud protection,” said Mike Zaneis, CEO of TAG. “This year, Primis went a step further by cooperating with a third party to earn our certification via independent validation, thus setting an even higher level of accountability for its efforts. We look forward to continuing to raise the bar for fraud protection in the digital advertising industry.”

Meet Our New and Improved Publisher Dashboard

We are excited to announce the launch of our new publisher dashboard, which is now available to all Primis publishers. Our new, innovative dashboard embodies the integrated content-monetization approach that we embraced in the past year.

The new dashboard was built with our publishers at top of mind, taking into account the leading metrics and reports that our publishing partners have generated in 2019. Our goal is to give them a clear overview of all of their activities on the Primis platform, and increase the amount of control that they have over their Video Discovery. The dashboard now integrates content and monetization activities into one view, including the new content syndication program and publisher’s demand monetization.

What You’ll See on the Dashboard

The publisher dashboard is comprised of 11 in-depth and intuitive, charts, tables and graphs. They map out the main metrics and data points Primis publishers use on a daily basis, and can be customized to any timeframe. They can be broken down further into the four main elements of Primis’s publisher partners: Overall Monetization, Content Performance and Engagement, Demand Drilldown, and the Syndication Program.

For publishers that exclusively use the Syndication Program, only the Syndication Performance section will be displayed. If you are a Primis syndicator and are interested in expanding to our other services, then please reach out to your account manager and we will be happy to assist.

The following is a detailed overview of each graph and chart group.

Overall Monetization

The first group provides the monetization part of video discovery, and gives a clear overview of the publisher’s bottom line.

Video Discovery Dashboard

  • Video Discovery Summary– This is where the publisher gets an overall view on monetization. It includes metrics such as revenue, viewable impressions, impressions, RPM and viewable RPM.
  • Top Placements – This shows the publisher their highest earning placements, by revenue, impressions and RPM.
  • Revenue by Country– Here the publisher can see how much revenue they are earning from traffic broken down by country by the same measurements that you can access via Top Placements

Content Performance

The second section provides insights on the main metrics that signify how users engage with your video content.

Content Dashboard

  • Content Summary– This provides an overview of the main metrics that publishers need to know regarding performance of content on their domains, including publisher video views, Primis library video views, overall engagement rate and VTR.
  • Top Channels – This table and chart displays the top 5 content channels that are playing on the publishers domains, detailed by number of views, VTR and engagement rate.
  • Top Categories – Here is where the publisher can see their top performing content categories by the same measurements that you can access via Top Channels

Demand Drilldown

In the third group, publishers can now observe the performance of their various campaigns. This includes both Primis Marketplace campaigns and the publisher’s demand.

Demand Drill-down Dashboard

  • Demand Breakdown – This graph displays overall revenue from the Primis Marketplace vs. the publisher’s demand revenue.
  • Top Campaigns – Here the publisher can get an overview of the performance of their own demand by campaign, revenue, impression and CPM.

Syndication Performance

The final group of graphs displays an overview of the publisher’s syndication activity. This syndication activity includes the performance of the publisher’s videos on other publisher’s assets. If you are interested in participating in this activity, then make sure to reach out to your Customer Success Manager.

Syndication Dashboard

  • Syndication Program – An overview of the metrics publishers who syndicate their content most want to see – revenue, views, VTR and engagement rates.
  • Top Syndication Channels – This graph and table display the leading channels being syndicated, broken down by channel, views, VTR and engagement rates.

With the new publisher dashboard, each chart or graph includes a link to the most used actions for each. For example, you can find links for creating or managing a campaign in the Demand Breakdown graph, buttons for the Primis library or to manage playlists in the Content Summary graph, and many other helpful tips. In addition, every graph and chart offers a link to more in-depth reporting!

ID5 and Primis Announce Partnership

Primis, The Video Discovery Platform have joined some of the leading ad tech platforms in the world to support ID5, the independent shared identity infrastructure providing premium publishers and ad tech platforms with a universal ID solution to improve user recognition in programmatic advertising.

Primis, a valued property of Universal McCann and IPG, is joining the likes of Amobee, MediaMath, Pubmatic and many other notable ad-tech players in their common goal to improve user recognition and match rates and reduce the need for cookie matching.

User identification is key to monetize inventory & data, but third-party cookie-based IDs are inefficient, increase the risk of data leakage and impacts GDPR compliance. With Universal ID, ID5 is reinventing identity and putting publishers in charge by offering a privacy-first solution to create and share 1st party user IDs with their monetization partners.

“The Universal ID solution aligns well with our values, as well as those of our parent company Universal McCann,” said Eyal Betzalel, Co-CEO at Primis. “We respect the privacy and peace of mind of our publishers, their users and all of those that interact with the internet. It’s because of these beliefs that we find it so important to join initiatives like that of ID5.”

With the addition of the Primis network, ID5 will be able to extend their reach by millions of users each day across thousands of domains. Eventually, this growth will allow the initiative to more accurately connect relevant advertisements to users, without the use of invasive 3rd Party Cookies.

“We are delighted to partner with Primis, a leading video platform which helps thousands of publishers globally to better monetize their assets in a privacy-compliant and user-friendly way,” says Mathieu Roche, Co-founder and CEO at ID5.”This collaboration reinforces the ID5’s footprint making it more valuable for current and future partners. We are committed to building a privacy-first identity solution that empowers publishers to grow sustainable advertising revenue and the partnership with Primis is a great step in this direction”.

About ID5

ID5 is the independent identity solution for digital advertising. ID5 provides user identification solutions which improve user recognition and reduce the need for cookie matching. The ID5 Universal ID allows publishers to increase their monetization capabilities by enabling buyers to identify 100% of users even in environments where 3rd party cookies are blocked.

About Primis

Primis leverages machine learning technology to serve consumers with video content they are most likely to engage with. The discovery engine is applied in a fully customizable video unit designed to fit natively in all websites. Their video solution helps publishers add new monetization opportunities and drive deeper engagement with consumers.

Product Updates: Closed Captions and Two New Skins

For the product team here at Primis, providing a great user experience is our North Star. We get very excited when presented with the opportunity to improve the experience of visitors to our publishing partners’ websites. That’s why we are introducing two exciting new features to our Video Discovery units this week; Closed Captions and two new video skins.

These enhancements to our product fulfill the common purpose of achieving the unmatched, industry-leading user experience that we prioritize.

Closed Captions

We will begin rolling out Closed Captions as a default option for playlists across the Primis network this week. While the feature is common on other video channels, like Facebook, YouTube, and Netflix, we are among the first to implement it on a video ad unit.

The Primis unit will be using AI and machine learning tech from the GCP (Google Cloud Platform) in order to integrate automated Speech-to-Text into our platform. These capabilities will be free for our partners that are promoting their own content through the Primis unit. We want to ensure that our partners maintain the high UX standards that they have come to expect from Primis.

Closed Captions will enhance user experience, allowing site visitors to take control of their own viewing experience by offering them the option to consume video content through text. It will also have a positive impact on how the hearing impaired community consumes video content.

Through testing, we have concluded that this will increase user time-on-page and overall engagement. This includes interactions with the unit, such as turning the volume on, choosing full screen and viewing another video in the attached playlist.

Two New Skins

Our other upcoming development is the release of two new skins that publishers can choose for their native Primis video units. These skins provide new possibilities for how publishers display their discovery units.

Customizability enables a more native unit. And when a video ad unit blends seamlessly into a website, it improves user experience, draws higher engagement and earns more revenue. So, not only will these players look great on articles and blogs, they will make visitors happy and keep them consuming content.

Begin Using These Features

Want to implement Closed Captions onto your Primis unit? Think that one of these new skins will enhance your video content?

Then reach out to your Primis Customer Success Manager or send us a contact request if you are not yet a Primis partner.

Player API Updates and Improvements

Data-Driven Decision Making Made Easy

Primis is incorporating API capabilities into its already innovative Video Discovery Unit. These added features will enable publishers to get to know their users better, thereby creating a more efficient and monetizable processes. It will also improve user experience for visitors who engage with Primis partner sites, articles, and video content.

What is a Video API?

An API is a set of requirements that govern how one application can communicate and interact with another. The Video API is a tool for developers to interact with the player directly through code, get event notifications and even control the player.

To put it in terms that we can all understand, let’s take Lego for example. Lego bricks have a universal way of connecting to each other via small bumps and holes, which can be considered an API. This provides a simple and structured way to allow pieces to be built together in different ways.

In the same vein, a site and a video player can connect through API to create new and interesting mashups and data sharing.

How the Primis Video Player API Works

In order for Player API to work, the site developer should write a few lines of code that will identify the player on the page and register the desired events. In that moment, the publisher can choose which events are most important to know about, such as clicks, impressions, ad engagements, volume toggles, and more. You can find more details and explanations in our official Primis Video Discovery Player API guide

From that moment, when a user is identified as having watched a video, an ad or having engaged with the player, the player will send a notification about these events.

These events are occurring through code, so the publisher or site developer should use these notification in their own way. They can send the event with the relevant data to their servers and store it in their database. This data will become a valuable asset that the publisher can utilize in many ways.

It’s worth noting that we are planning to add extensive, valuable data to the events soon. This can include discovering which video was watched, for how long, and other related events.

Our goal is to give our partners and customers the best video experience, and the player API is an important step towards that goal. This will help publishers get more familiar with their users and how they engage within their site.

Eyal Betzalel

Co-CEO, Primis

How Can Publishers Use Primis Player API Data?

As said before, publishers can use Primis Video Player API capabilities to track a user’s journey in real time, and even combine that information with existing data on that specific user. But how exactly does that benefit the publisher?

Download the complete guide to video monetization

Here are a few examples of how publishers can make data-driven decisions through the use of our Player API or by integrating it with other data they have:

  • Give readers the content they want – If a user watched or interacted with a specific video, a publisher can automate a process that would recommend them an article to read about that same topic. This action can improve time on page, pages per visit, article engagement, and promote a better overall user experience.
  • Know the exact ROI of each user Publishers can know in real time how much they earned from a specific ad impression. They can understand the exact ROI of every user interaction, and overall of the user.
  • Target users better – If a user converted and engaged with a video, then it may be a great opportunity for targeting. A publisher can identify characteristics of engaged users, in order to improve paid targeting and allocating budget to attract users that are most likely to engage.

There’s More to Come

With the feedback from our partners like you, we will be able to continue to improve the feature and make it even more useful.

If you’re already a Primis partner, then make sure to check out this guide.

Why We Implemented Sellers.JSON and Supply Chain

This past June, Primis became one of the first platforms in the industry to go live with sellers.json and supply chain initiatives. It continues to be a priority for our company to be transparent both internally and externally so this decision was very much in line with our culture.

About Sellers.JSON and Supply Chain

Supply chain and sellers.json are two separate initiatives that both enable buyers to understand intermediaries. We support both of them:

Sellers. JSON

Sellers.json enables buyers to discover who, in particular, are either direct sellers or intermediaries in the selling of digital advertisements. The identities of all final sellers of a given bid request become discoverable through a published sellers.json file.

Rather than supplying this information with every bid request, sellers.json allows the material to be searched and cached offline, thus enabling smaller bid request object sizes.

Supply Chain

The SupplyChain object allows buyers to see all of the entities who are selling or reselling each impression. This is important to buyers because it makes the supply chain transparent and ensures that all intermediaries are approved. It also enables the inventory to be purchased as directly as possible.

The SupplyChain object allows publishers to plainly see who is participating in the sale of any piece of their inventory. It is composed of a set of nodes where each node signifies a particular entity that acts in the selling of an impression. The whole chain of nodes represents all of the sellers paid for each impression.

These initiatives, in addition to TAG certification, MRC accredited verification, GDPR compliance, and 100% ads.txt adoption are essential in our mission to go above and beyond for our publishing and demand partners, ensuring transparency and high quality inventory.

Eyal Bezalel
Primis, Co-CEO
